Abstract

The Dump Truck TR - 50 diesel engine is a diesel engine where the combustion engine is one of a series of very important components in a vehicle, namely as a tool that has the ability to convert heat energy generated from the combustion process of a mixture of air and fuel and then converted into energy. motion, so that the vehicle can move, one of which is the Dump Truck TR - 50 diesel engine. The Cummins QSX15-C diesel engine is widely used at mine sites as a vehicle to transport cargo such as coal, the unit's working condition is always overloaded and the operating time of up to 22 hours per day will cause damage or wear to the components of the Cummins QSX15-C diesel engine, so that causing the performance of the diesel engine to be less than optimal and it is necessary to carry out regular maintenance including a general general overhaul process on the engine that has been operating for 12,000 working hours to restore the engine condition to standard conditions.

             Purpose of this study was to determine how much the performance and thermal efficiency of the Cummins QSX15-C engine after overhaul. To obtain data regarding the results of performance and the magnitude of this thermal efficiency is obtained by conducting a dynotest test process and observation. Direct research into the field, conducting discussions with workshop mechanics and trainers and collecting reference books and training materials of PT. ALTRAK 1978.

             Based on the data analysis, it can be concluded that the horse power value of the QSX-15 C Drilling diesel engine is 1313 HP at 1800 rpm. The horse power produced is in accordance with the standards set by Cummins, namely 1222-1351 and the thermal efficiency of the QSX-15 C Drilling engine after overhaul is 40%.
