Abstract

The production process of oil and natural gas on a platform requires control equipment to regulate the production process safely. The main parameters that are regulated are pressure, temperature, discharge, and the level of liquid fluid in a vessel. In the case of liquid fluid regulation, sometimes there are phenomena of cavitation and flushing in the control valve. Cavitation and flushing are damaging to control valve and pipe materials. data analysis in order to find the factors causing valve damage, and the procedure for selecting the correct valve size. The results of calculations and analysis from this study indicate that the valve has cavitation which is indicated by the value of the pressure difference acting on the valve that exceeds the maximum pressure difference limit allowed by the manufacturer. The causes of valve damage are cavitation, sand erosion of the valve material, and reverse valve installation. From the calculation of the valve size selection, the 3 "inch NotchFlo type valve can operate under real pressure difference conditions.
